What if……

What if one day you woke up and you were forty. You looked around at your life, thought of everything you had done, things you’ve seen, places you’d gone. Then you started thinking about what you HADN’T done. What you dreamed of doing but didn’t. Your failures and regrets crept in and took over. What if..

For me, my weight is something I have always thought of as a failure. I never dunked a basketball, never ran a mile without stopping. Today I couldn’t run 400 meters without stopping, maybe not even 200. I go swimming with a shirt on because I don’t want people to stare.

Now, what if one day you woke up and realized you had the power to change that? That your fear was holding you back but couldn’t stop you? It took me a too many years to understand that my weight is not who I am. It is just a number. And I can control that number. I may stumble, I may need to adjust my plan, I may need help along the way. And I most definitely will be afraid. But the number on a scale can be changed and I intend to do that.

This blog will be a way for me to share my journey, think out loud, stumble in public and get back up again, just like the old proverb says, “fall down seven times, get up eight.”
